The former model was caught out after it was noted her personal website claimed she obtained a degree in design and architecture from a university in Slovenia. Melania was born in Novo Mesto, and grew up in Sevnica, Slovenia. While Trump was President-elect the government website said Melania “paused her studies to advance her modelling career in Milan and Paris”.
It did not say whether she resumed or completed the degree.
The bio also did not say when or where she completed the degree but claimed she was working as a model at the time and “jetting between photo shoots in Paris and Milan”.
The now First Lady’s bio on the White House website no longer contains any information about her academic career.
Blaz Matija Vogelnik, a professor who said he briefly taught her at Slovenia’s University of Ljubljana, told NBC News she did not complete his course.
He said: “She hasn’t finished university, at least not in Ljubljana.
“My personal opinion is that, because she was very beautiful girl, I believe that she realised that she could gain more with that, than to have long studies.”
Mr Vogelnik noted his former student did pass a rigorous test to gain entry to the University, and based on that he believed “her IQ was very high.”
Had Melania completed the course her research would be in the university’s library.
NBC reported it couldn’t be found there when they visited the campus.
GQ magazine reported Melania “decamped to Milan after her first year of college, effectively dropping out”.
